Platform migration · Florida
Migrations to Shopify That Don’t Lose Your Data, Your SEO or Your Weekend.
Most replatforms go wrong in one of three places: the catalogue arrives incomplete, the redirects are an afterthought and rankings fall off a cliff, or the cutover runs long and the store is down through a trading day. For Florida stores that lean on snowbird and hurricane-season traffic, timing matters even more. All three are preventable, and all three are avoided the same way — by verifying the data before anyone touches DNS.

Who this is for
Migrations rarely fail loudly. they fail quietly, in march.
- 01
Redirects
Redirects treated as a launch task
Done in a rush, partially, with chains three hops deep. Rankings bleed for months and nobody connects it to the replatform.
- 02
Variants
Variants flattened
The source model did not map cleanly, so 4,000 SKUs became 900 products with a size dropdown that lies.
- 03
Orders
Order history left behind
“We’ll keep the old site up for reference” — and support cannot answer a single returns question from day one.
- 04
Consent
Customer consent state lost
The whole list re-imported as opted-in. A compliance problem and a deliverability disaster in one move.
- 05
Cutover
Cutover on a friday
No rollback, discovered broken on Saturday morning with nobody available — right before a Florida weekend rush.
- 06
Schema
Structured data never rebuilt
Product, breadcrumb and review schema silently gone, so rich results disappear and traffic drifts down without a cause.
What’s included
Every platform breaks in its own specific way.
Generic migration checklists are why migrations go wrong. These are the actual hazards we plan around, by source platform. Need the new storefront designed as well as moved? See our Florida ecommerce development service .
- 01
Woocommerce: serialized post meta
Product data lives as serialized PHP in postmeta and plugin tables. We read the database directly rather than trusting the CSV export.
- 02
Woocommerce: variable products
Variations are child posts joined by attribute taxonomies. Exports flatten them; we rebuild variants against the real taxonomy.
- 03
Magento: eav attribute sprawl
Hundreds of custom attributes across product types, triaged into metafields rather than imported wholesale.
- 04
Magento: tier & group pricing
B2B tier pricing and configurables have no 1:1 field. Rebuilt on Shopify’s native B2B pricing without losing SKU-level history.
- 05
Bigcommerce: options vs variants
Modifiers and options do not map cleanly onto Shopify’s variant model — some become line-item properties, by decision.
- 06
Bigcommerce: multi-storefront
Several storefronts merging into one Shopify Plus setup means URL collisions and customer-group pricing resolved before launch.
- 07
Wix & squarespace: no export path
Products, images and metafields captured by direct extraction; the redirect map built from a live crawl, not the platform’s listing.
- 08
Wix & squarespace: blog urls
Date-based post URLs have no Shopify equivalent and need per-post mapping, or the content that ranks is the content you lose.
- 09
Custom builds: undocumented schema
Database or API archaeology first, so the data model is understood before anything is scoped or moved.
- 10
Custom builds: bespoke checkout logic
Discount, tax and shipping rules a past developer hard-coded, rebuilt with Shopify Functions; ERP and POS links re-pointed, not just re-authenticated.

Which plan · advanced or Plus
Most Florida brands don’t need Plus. we’ll tell you if you do.
- Identical Work
- B2B On Every Plan
- Decided In The Audit
Agencies quote Plus by default. The migration work is identical either way — same data, same redirects, same cutover — so the plan is a separate decision made with you, not for you. Since April 2026 company accounts, three price catalogues, net terms and Flow are on every paid plan, which removed the most common reason a mid-size brand upgraded. You need Plus if you must change how checkout behaves, run multiple storefronts, need more than three catalogues or deposits, or hit API limits on high-concurrency drops. None of that is a revenue number. See our Florida Shopify Plus service if you do.

Why Aqsa
A replatform is a site-wide url change.
Search engines treat it as exactly that. Handled properly, rankings hold within weeks. Handled as a launch-week task, you spend two quarters buying back the Florida search traffic you used to get free.
- 01
Mapped
Every url, mapped by hand
Built from a full crawl plus your Search Console and analytics data, so URLs that still earn traffic are found even when nothing links to them.
- 02
One hop
One hop, never a chain
Old URL to final destination directly. Chains bleed authority at every step and are the most common defect we find in other agencies’ migrations.
- 03
Schema
Structured data rebuilt
Product, breadcrumb and review schema recreated and validated before cutover, so rich results survive the move rather than quietly disappearing.
How we work
Seven Stages. Nothing Skipped.
The order is the method. Verification sits before cutover for a reason — once DNS moves, discovering a problem is expensive.
Migration Audit
We crawl the store, size the catalogue, extract the URL inventory from your live site and Search Console, map the data model and list the risks. The awkward cases surface here — bundles, tier pricing, faceted URLs, plugin-owned fields.
Week 1Scope Of Work
A fixed scope written against what the audit found, naming what migrates, what gets rebuilt and what is deliberately left behind. Priced and signed before any build begins.
Week 1–2Staging Build
Theme built on Online Store 2.0, data migrated into a staging store, integrations wired. You see it working on real data, not placeholder products, with weekly demos throughout.
Week 2–7Data Verification
Source counts reconciled against destination counts, row by row: products, variants, customers, orders, refunds. Discrepancies investigated rather than rounded away.
Week 6–7QA Period
Checkout tested across payment methods and edge cases, redirects tested in bulk against the map, structured data validated, Core Web Vitals measured, and your team trained on the admin.
Week 7–8Cutover
Mid-week, early, whole team on, rollback plan ready. DNS switches, redirects verified live within minutes, orders watched in real time. Never into a named-storm window where the calendar allows.
Week 8–9Post-Launch Monitoring
Thirty days on indexation, crawl errors, redirect health, conversion rate against your old baseline and Core Web Vitals on real field data. Problems get found by us, not by your traffic graph.
Week 9–13Engagement options
Pick the build that fits
From $2,000 to six figures — your data decides which. A 60-product Squarespace store and a 40,000-SKU Magento build with three store views are not the same project. Ranges are starting points; the fixed price is written against what the free audit finds.
Small catalogues — Wix, Squarespace or a light WooCommerce store, roughly under 200 products — where the current design is fine or a good theme will do.

Frequently asked questions.
Will I lose my search rankings?
Not if the redirect map is built properly and built first. Expect some volatility for two to four weeks while search engines reprocess the site — that is normal and recovers. What causes permanent loss is missing redirects, chains and orphaned content, which is why the URL inventory is stage one rather than a launch-week task. We monitor indexation for 30 days afterwards so any gap is found by us, not by your traffic graph.
Do you work specifically with Florida-based Shopify stores?
Yes. The programme is planned around Florida seasonality — snowbird traffic peaks, hurricane-season cutover timing and multi-location retail groups across the state. The same audit-first framework applies whether your store is based in Florida or simply serves Florida customers heavily. Work is remote, with calls in Eastern Time.
Do I need Shopify Plus?
Most brands under roughly $5M in revenue do not, especially since Shopify moved B2B features and Flow onto every paid plan in April 2026. The migration work is identical either way; the plan only changes what the storefront can do afterwards. We recommend a tier in the audit rather than quoting Plus by default, and if you are already on Plus and do not need it, we say that too.
How long does a Shopify migration take?
Typically six to twelve weeks depending on catalogue size, integration count and how clean the source data is. The cutover itself is measured in minutes, not days.
How much downtime will there be?
Minutes, not hours. Cutover is scheduled mid-week, early in the day, with the whole team on and redirects verified live in real time before we call it done. Never a Friday, and never into a named-storm window where the calendar allows.
Does order history come across?
Yes. Full order history including refunds and fulfilment status is migrated and reconciled row by row against your source platform’s counts, so support loses nothing on day one.
What about customer passwords?
Hashed passwords cannot be decrypted by any platform, so they never migrate. Customers reset on first login. We plan the email communication for that ahead of launch rather than letting it surprise your support inbox.
Can you migrate from a custom in-house platform?
Yes. It usually starts with database or API archaeology to document a schema that was never written down, before the move can be scoped. The audit is also how you regain an accurate picture of your own store.
What does a migration cost?
From $2,000 for a small, simple catalogue to $100,000+ for enterprise multi-region B2B builds. Three tiers are outlined above; the fixed price is written against what the free audit actually finds. Every tier is milestone-billed, and the data-integrity and redirect work is the same on a $2,000 job as on a $100,000 one.
Do you account for Florida sales tax nexus during migration?
We verify that tax settings are carried across and configured correctly on Shopify as part of QA, and flag anything that needs your accountant’s input. We are not a tax advisor, but a nexus setting is never silently dropped in the move.
What happens after launch?
Thirty days of post-launch monitoring on indexation, crawl errors, redirect health, Core Web Vitals and conversion rate against your pre-migration baseline, so problems are found by us first.
