Best Shopify Shipping & Delivery Apps in 2026: Rates, Labels, Pickup, Delivery Dates and Tracking

Shopify shipping and delivery apps by job: rates in the cart, labels and fulfilment, pickup and local delivery, delivery dates and tracking.

“Shipping app” covers five different jobs, and most stores install the wrong one first. Buying labels is not the same problem as showing a rate in the cart, which is not the same as promising a delivery date, which is not the same as telling a customer where their parcel is. Install one app per job you actually have, and shipping stops being the part of the store that breaks every peak season.

This is the list we work from on builds and audits, grouped by the job. Everything here was checked against what Shopify does natively first, because the cheapest shipping app is the one you do not need.

Summary

  • Rates at checkout: Shopify’s own rates and shipping profiles first; CBB Shipping Rates Calculator to show them in the cart.
  • Labels and fulfilment: ShipStation for volume and warehouse rules, Shippo and Easyship for simpler operations, Sendcloud for Europe.
  • Pickup and local delivery: Zapiet Pickup & Delivery.
  • Delivery dates: Fenix Order Delivery Date.
  • Tracking and WISMO: AfterShip, Track123 or Parcel Panel.

What Shopify does without an app

Before installing anything: Shopify gives you flat and weight-based rates, free-shipping thresholds, rates by zone and market, local pickup and local delivery as basic options, Shopify Shipping labels in supported countries, and — the one most stores miss — shipping profiles. A profile pairs a set of products with their own rates, so a heavy kit and a small accessory can charge completely different shipping without a plan upgrade.

That last one matters. PawGuard sells wireless fence kits and collars side by side and needed per-variant rates on the standard plan, so every variant sits in its own shipping profile. No app, no Plus subscription. Carrier-calculated rates with your own accounts are available on the higher plans (or as a paid add-on on the lower ones), which covers most “we need real UPS rates” requests without a third party.

1. Rates in the cart, before checkout

Unexpected shipping cost at checkout is one of the most-cited reasons carts get abandoned. The fix is showing the cost earlier, which Shopify does not do natively on the cart page.

CBB Shipping Rates Calculator puts a rates estimator in the cart, querying the same rates checkout will apply, with a free-shipping progress bar if you want one. It is a small app with a direct line to conversion, and it is the first shipping-related thing we install on stores with a high abandonment rate at the shipping step. The rest of that path is covered in our cart abandonment guide.

2. Labels, rates shopping and fulfilment

ShipStation

ShipStation is the workhorse for stores shipping real volume: multi-carrier rate shopping, batch label printing, automation rules (this product to this warehouse with this service), inventory sync and multi-store support. If you have a warehouse and a packing bench, this is usually the answer.

Shippo

Shippo does discounted multi-carrier labels with a simpler interface and pay-as-you-go pricing. Good for stores shipping tens to low hundreds of orders a week that do not need warehouse automation.

Easyship

Easyship leads on cross-border: duty and tax calculation, courier comparison by landed cost, and checkout rates that account for what the customer will owe on arrival. For a brand expanding through Shopify Markets, landed cost is the thing that decides whether international orders convert or get refused at the door.

Sendcloud

Sendcloud is the European equivalent: local carrier coverage, service points, branded tracking and returns portals built for EU consumer expectations.

3. Local pickup and delivery

Zapiet Pickup & Delivery is the app for stores with physical locations: a date and time picker in the cart, pickup by location with its own lead times and blackout dates, local delivery zones by postcode or radius, and the whole thing reflected in the order so the store staff know what to prepare and when.

This is a retail problem more than a shipping one. If you run stores as well as a website, the pickup flow, the POS and the inventory per location have to agree — which is what our Shopify for retail stores work covers. Shopify’s own local pickup and delivery options are enough for a single location with simple hours; Zapiet is for anything with schedules.

4. Delivery-date promises

“Arrives Tuesday” converts better than “3–5 business days”, and it is also a promise that has to be kept. Fenix Order Delivery Date calculates and displays an estimated delivery date on the product page and in the cart, based on your cut-off times, processing time and carrier transit.

Two rules before you enable it: make the cut-off time honest (including weekends and holidays), and make sure your fulfilment operation can hit the date you print. A missed promise costs more than the vague version would have.

5. Tracking, and the WISMO problem

“Where is my order” is the single most common support ticket in ecommerce, and it is almost entirely preventable. Branded tracking pages take the customer back to your store instead of the carrier’s website, and proactive email or SMS updates stop the ticket being written at all.

  • AfterShip — the widest carrier coverage, mature branded tracking page, notifications, analytics. The default for larger stores.
  • Track123 — same idea, lighter and cheaper, with a good free tier.
  • Parcel Panel — another strong budget option with a clean tracking page.

Whichever you pick, wire its events into your email or SMS tool so shipping updates come from the same programme as everything else — see the retention apps comparison for how that fits together.

What no shipping app fixes

  1. Rates that do not reflect reality. If your profiles and zones are wrong, every app downstream shows the wrong number faster.
  2. A fulfilment process that misses its own cut-off. Dates and tracking make broken promises more visible, not less.
  3. Checkout logic beyond rates. Free shipping tied to a customer tag, a surcharge for one product, a service hidden for a market — that is Shopify Functions and checkout extensibility on Shopify Plus, not an app setting.
  4. Warehouse and ERP integration. Once a 3PL or an ERP is in the picture, the sync is a custom integration, with retries and error handling that a generic connector does not do.
  5. The speed cost. Tracking widgets, rate calculators and delivery-date scripts all load on the storefront. Check the damage with the free Store Speed Test after installing, and read the speed apps guide for what to do about it.

FAQ

Do I need a shipping app for Shopify?

Not always. Shopify handles flat rates, weight-based rates, free-shipping thresholds and, on the right plans, carrier-calculated rates with your own accounts. You need an app when you buy labels at scale, sell locally with pickup and delivery windows, promise a delivery date, or want branded tracking that stops “where is my order” emails.

How do I show shipping costs before checkout?

A rates calculator on the cart page — CBB Shipping Rates Calculator is the common one — queries the same rates the checkout will use and shows them in the cart. Unexpected shipping cost at checkout is one of the most-cited reasons for cart abandonment, so this is among the cheapest conversion fixes available.

Can I charge different shipping rates per product on standard Shopify?

Yes, with shipping profiles: each product or variant sits in its own profile with its own rates. We built exactly that for PawGuard on the standard plan, so a collar and a full fence kit charge their own rates without Shopify Plus.

Which order tracking app is best?

AfterShip for carrier breadth and a mature branded tracking page, Track123 and Parcel Panel for a lighter, cheaper version of the same thing. All three exist to cut WISMO tickets: the customer checks your tracking page instead of emailing support.
