Wix to Shopify Migration (2026): Products, Customers, Orders, Blog Posts and Redirects

Wix to Shopify migration in 2026: what Shopify's free app imports, products with 4+ options, orders, reviews, blog posts and /product-page/ redirects.

For products and customers, a Wix to Shopify migration is one of the easier platform moves, because Shopify’s own free app reads the files Wix exports. The harder parts sit around them: products with more than three options, reviews and blog posts that Wix will not export, member passwords that cannot follow, and the /product-page/ addresses Google already knows.

We read every limit, step and price below on 5 November 2026, in Shopify’s Help Center, its App Store and its US pricing page, and in the Wix Help Center. Amounts are US dollars.

Key takeaways

  • The Store Migration app, free and made by Shopify, accepts Wix’s product and customer CSV files unchanged. Products land as drafts, and Wix collections and ribbons turn into product tags.
  • Wix lets a product have up to 6 options; Shopify allows 3. Any Wix product carrying 4, 5 or 6 options arrives as one product with no options or variants, so those products need rebuilding.
  • Wix exports no reviews, no blog posts, no digital products and no member list. Reviews go in through a review app, posts are copied across, digital products are recreated, and customers on Shopify’s customer accounts sign in with an emailed code instead of a password.
  • Past orders need an outside migration app. Shopify’s guide names Wix Data Import by Cart2Cart, LitExtension Store Migration and EZ Importer.
  • Shopify downloads product images from Wix during the import, so run it while the Wix site is still live, and keep the Wix plan until you have checked the Shopify store against it.

Start with Shopify’s Store Migration app

Shopify released the Store Migration app on 17 July 2024. It is free, built by Shopify, and imports product and customer data from eight platforms, Wix among them. On 5 November its App Store listing showed a rating of 3.2 out of 5 from 78 reviews, and the listing itself warns that some platforms do not export every field, so small fixes in the admin may follow.

For Wix, the app needs no preparation. Export the products and, if you want them, the contacts, upload both files unchanged, choose Import products and Import customers, and read the report the app produces. Every product comes in as a draft, so nothing appears on the storefront until you publish it, and each Wix collection or ribbon becomes a product tag you can use to build collections later.

Two Wix limits shape the export. Each product file holds at most 5,000 rows, so a large catalog leaves Wix in several files. Digital products are not exported at all; Wix’s help article says that export is not currently supported, so downloadable goods are rebuilt in Shopify one at a time.

Products with four or more options

Wix Stores caps a product at 1,000 variants, built from up to 6 options of 100 choices each. Shopify’s ceiling is higher on variants, 2,048, but lower on options: three. The variant count is rarely the problem; the option count is. Shopify’s Wix guide says a product with 4, 5 or 6 options is imported as a single product with no options and no variants at all.

Find those products before the import. For each one, choose a fix: combine two options into one (size and fit as “M / Tall”), split the product into separate listings, or keep one attribute out of the variant set with metafields or an app, both of which Shopify’s guide suggests. Shopify Plus stores have one more route, the Combined Listings app, which joins separate products into one listing with up to three extra options.

Large variant sets carry a second risk. Shopify’s variants help page says some themes, apps and sales channels do not support more than 100 variants, so check each app you plan to keep against your biggest products.

If you edit the product file yourself

Without the app, Wix’s file has to be reshaped into Shopify’s product CSV template. Shopify’s guide maps it column by column. The changes behind most failed imports are these:

  • Rows. Wix writes a Product row followed by Variant rows and labels them in a fieldType column. Shopify wants one row per variant with the URL handle repeated, so each Product row is merged with its first Variant row and fieldType is deleted.
  • Prices. A Wix variant price is the product price plus its surcharge, so enter the sum. A Wix discount becomes a compare-at price: the original price goes in Compare-at price and the discounted one in Price.
  • Stock. Wix may write InStock or OutOfStock where Shopify needs a number. The inventory column only works for a store with one location; with several, stock goes in through the inventory CSV.
  • Weight. Shopify reads grams, so kilograms are multiplied by 1,000 and pounds by 453.592, then rounded.
  • Options. Only the first three option names and values have a home in Shopify; options 4 to 6 are removed.
  • Collections. The file gives each product one collection; the others are added after import.

When you import, untick Publish new products to all sales channels. Left on, it can push products you had hidden on Wix to channels such as POS and the Shop app. Shopify accepts product files of up to 15 MB each.

Customers, members and passwords

Wix contacts leave through the Import / Export menu above the contact list. Only the site owner can export, up to 50,000 contacts at a time, as a Regular, Google or Outlook CSV; for Shopify, pick Regular. The Store Migration app takes that file as it is. A manual import needs Shopify’s headers: an Email column must be present, the address fields move to the Default Address columns, and the country has to be written as its ISO code. Where a contact has several emails, phone numbers or addresses, only the first of each is mapped.

Marketing consent needs care. Shopify’s Accepts Email Marketing field takes yes or no, and its import help says to mark anyone who unsubscribed, never opted in or bounced as no.

Passwords cannot follow. Wix’s Help Center says that, for privacy reasons, a member list cannot be exported and imported, only contacts. Shopify’s says passwords encrypted on another platform cannot be migrated by CSV. On Shopify’s customer accounts, which replace its deprecated legacy accounts, a returning customer types an email address and gets a six-digit code, with no password involved, so switch them on before launch.

Orders and reviews

Wix exports orders from the Orders tab: select them, click Export, and choose whether each order fills one row or each purchased item gets its own. Purchase times in that file are always UTC, which matters when an app matches orders to dates.

Shopify has no order import of its own for Wix. Its guide sends order history through third-party apps and names Wix Data Import by Cart2Cart, LitExtension Store Migration and EZ Importer; we set those apps side by side in our best Shopify migration tools roundup, along with the records no app moves. Bring orders in after products and customers, so each order finds its product and its buyer.

Reviews are a manual job. Shopify’s guide says Wix reviews cannot be exported or migrated, and points to review apps such as Judge.me, Loox and Yotpo for adding them by hand.

Blog posts and pages

A Wix blog does not travel. Wix lists exporting posts to other platforms as a feature request it is collecting votes for, so each post is copied into Shopify’s blog by hand. Count the posts first and keep the ones that earn traffic or links. Each one kept needs its own redirect from its Wix address, which sits under /post/ by default.

Pages change address too. Shopify’s guide gives the example of a Wix policy page under /policies/ that becomes a page under /pages/ on Shopify.

Redirects from /product-page/ to /products/

By default, Wix keeps products at /product-page/slug and posts at /post/slug. Wix lets owners change those patterns in SEO Settings, so crawl the live site rather than assume the default. On Shopify every product sits at /products/handle, which means almost every product URL changes and needs a 301 from launch day.

If you added redirects on Wix, export them first: SEO & GEO › Tools and settings › URL Redirect Manager › More Actions › Export redirects. Point any that end on a Wix address straight at the final Shopify URL, so visitors and crawlers make one hop, not two.

Shopify’s redirect importer, at Content › Menus › URL redirects, reads a CSV file and holds up to 100,000 redirects per store, or 20 million on Plus. Its rules: a redirect only works from a URL that returns an error page on Shopify, /products, /collections and /collections/all are fixed paths that cannot be redirected, and URLs with query strings may not behave as expected. Shopify’s guide adds two habits worth keeping: map the most-visited pages first, and test each redirect once the store is live. Our general Shopify migration guide covers the SEO side of any move in more depth.

The domain

Shopify’s guide offers two routes: buy a new domain through Shopify, or connect the one you have. If the domain is connected to Wix, disconnect it there before moving it, or the Shopify store may show SSL certificate errors.

A domain bought through Wix can be transferred to another registrar from Domains › Transfer away from Wix, which emails an authorization code to the registrant contact. ICANN’s rules block a transfer within 60 days of purchase, and changing the registrant contact details starts a fresh 60-day lock, so make the move before editing those details. Wix says a transfer usually takes up to 7 days, and Wix business email stops working until its MX records are added at the new host.

When to cancel Wix

Run the import while the Wix site is still live. Shopify fetches each product image from its Wix URL during the import, and its guide says to import products before closing the Wix store.

Wix’s cancellation rules then decide the timing. A first-time plan cancelled within 14 days ends at once with a full refund. After that, cancelling only turns off auto-renewal and the plan runs to the end of its period, and Wix notes that renewal can be charged up to 3 weeks before the expiry date, so switch it off early. Domains, business email and apps renew separately, and each needs its own auto-renew turned off.

When the plan ends, Wix does not delete the site. It stays online at a free wixsite.com address with Wix ads, so unpublish it or hide it from search engines once Shopify is live, rather than leave a second copy of the store online.

Launch checklist

  • Publish the draft products you want on sale, then compare product, variant and customer counts with the Wix exports.
  • Rebuild every product that had four or more options, and add the digital products by hand.
  • Run test orders for a successful payment, a failed one, a refund and a cancellation, and read each notification email.
  • Connect the domain, then check that each old /product-page/ and /post/ address returns one 301 to a live page.
  • Submit sitemap.xml in Google Search Console once the store’s password page is off; search engines cannot read the sitemap while the store is password protected.

What Shopify costs while both stores run

Plan for a few weeks of paying Wix and Shopify together. Shopify’s US pricing page on 5 November 2026 listed Basic, Grow and Advanced at $19, $49 and $299 a month on a yearly bill, or $25, $65 and $399 paid monthly, with Plus starting at $2,300 a month. New stores get 3 days free and then 3 months at $1 a month. Basic includes no staff accounts, Grow 5 and Advanced 15.

For the agency side, our Shopify migration cost guide breaks the price of a move down by source platform and catalog size. Still deciding between the two? Our Shopify vs Wix comparison covers plan prices, payment fees and product limits.

When to get help

A small Wix store with simple products can usually move with the Store Migration app and a careful check afterwards. Products with four or more options, years of orders, a long blog, a custom URL pattern or a domain still locked at Wix each add work. Our platform migration team moves Wix stores to Shopify end to end: the catalog rebuild, customer accounts, order history, the redirect map and the domain.

FAQ

Can Shopify import my Wix store automatically?

Partly. Wix’s product and customer exports go into Shopify’s free Store Migration app as they are, and products arrive as drafts. Orders need a third-party app, reviews and digital products need manual work, and Wix blog posts are copied across because Wix cannot export them.

What happens to Wix products with more than three options?

Wix permits 6 options on a product; Shopify permits 3. Any product using 4 or more comes into Shopify as a single product with no options or variants, so it has to be rebuilt by combining options, splitting it into several products, or moving an attribute into metafields or an app.

Can I move Wix orders and reviews to Shopify?

Orders, yes, with a third-party app; Shopify’s guide names Wix Data Import by Cart2Cart, LitExtension Store Migration and EZ Importer. Reviews cannot be exported from Wix, so they are added by hand through a review app such as Judge.me, Loox or Yotpo.

Will my customers need new passwords after moving from Wix?

Their Wix passwords cannot move: Wix does not export its member list, and Shopify cannot import passwords from another platform. On Shopify’s customer accounts nobody needs a password, because customers sign in with their email address and a one-time six-digit code.

Will moving from Wix to Shopify hurt my Google rankings?

Not if every old address gets a 301 redirect from launch day. By default, Wix keeps products under /product-page/ and blog posts under /post/, while Shopify products live under /products/. Import the redirects as a CSV in Content › Menus › URL redirects, test them after launch, and submit the new sitemap in Search Console.
